Learn about the Art & Craft of Mosaics
Saturday, February 24, 2:00 – 3:30pm
Mosaics has existed for millenniums. Africans, Chinese, Persians, Romans, Byzantine, Greeks, Spaniards, Mayans, and Aztecs all created mosaics for utilitarian and, what some call, ornamental purposes with a variety of materials. Some of the same methods used BC are used today in craft and contemporary arts. During this time, Wasentha will:
– Talk about the many styles of mosaics;
– Show tools of the trade;
– Demonstrate cutting methods; and
– With your assistance (donate a small rock of your own, purchase a small rock next door at World of Rocks, or bring a small piece of broken pottery) – Wasentha will start a piece that when finished will be auctioned (date tbd) whereby the proceeds will be donated to the local non-profit organization, Fly Children’s Art Center.
