Central Channel

The Central Channel is the only meridian of its kind that has its own points. In Traditional Chinese Medicine there are more than one depiction of the Central Channel. Chi Kung (Qigong) practitioners more often refer to it as the orbit of energy that flows down the front and up the back. Acu-point practitioners refer to the meridian that starts at the wei yin point (base of torso) and flows up both the front and back medial lines meeting at the center roof of the mouth, where the teeth meet the gums. That is why – while performing many chi kung exercises and in tai chi, the tip of the tongue is gently lifted to touch that point. It connects the flow of the Central Channel.
